Masala Chai

About this Recipe

Nothing beats a revitalising cup of chai!


Ingredients

  • 1 cm of grated ginger
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 3 strands saffron
  • 1 cm cinnamon bark
  • 1 tsp Indian black tea
  • 1 tsp coconut sugar
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 2/3 cup milk 

Instructions

  1. Grate the ginger and add it to the pot with the water.
  2. Bring it to a boil.
  3. While the water is warming up, crush your spices with a pestle and mortar.
  4. Let it boil for 2-3 min to infuse the water with the spices.
  5. Add your tea and sugar and let it simmer for another minute or two.
  6. Add milk and bring it to a boil. Don't let overspill!!
  7. Once the chai is a deep red/brown colour, it's ready.  
  8.  Serve and enjoy!
